In your hypothetical scenario, it would be unlikely the parents would be charged. The law makes a destinction between firearms and baseball bats. Now, you may want to argue the law, but the law recognizes the inherrent dangers to society that guns present. Baseball bats not so much. I would likely not support charginging the parents in your scenario, but again, your scenario is completely hypothetical with nearly no bearing on acutal human behavior. Can you cite one instance where a child used a bat to comment mass homicide?
