So what yield is being checked or estimated, silage weight yield per acre or the grain yield in bushels that was in the silage? Simple enough to get close on weight of silage by running a few loads across scales. Was the entire field intended for grain but drought or excessive rain makes you think there was loss?

I know little about crop insurance as we never used it. If I am understanding this, apparently you had the field insured to guarantee a yield of at least "XXX" bu./acre. If actual yield is less than your guarantee, you make claim and insurance will pay for bushels not produced. Am I right?
