I maybe should have provided more context but I didn’t want a really long original post to bore people to death.

The top of the hill is about 250 feet to the east of this proposed culvert and that point is only about 1.5’ higher than the bottom of where the culvert will be.

There will be some runoff from the roof of a future shed that this culvert will have to handle.

Another difference is annual rainfall. If we get 24” of total precipitation here we have had a monster year. So I’m not convinced it will ever fill up given the low rainfall and the fact that there is not much watershed area above it.

There is so little watershed area above this culvert that when I talked to the county about it they wanted to just eliminate the ditch and make the whole 600’ to 700’ stretch one giant entrance with no culvert under it at all. I don’t like that idea because I want the yard to quickly drain after precipitation events and if I get rid of the ditch, where does it drain to?

It’s basically going to be for allowing a place for water to go to prevent puddles on the farmstead. Not water from 3 miles down the road and uphill.

But in general I do agree with you. I don’t want to have to redo it and if my kids hang around I don’t want
