Agreed. I'm just saying that any weeds that are still standing after frost have already spread their seeds. So mowing then won't do anything for seed reduction. That post-frost mowing is just for cosmetic reasons only.

There are weeds here won't be caught be a July or even early-August mowing. Cocklebur needs to be mowed in late August or early September to eliminate the seeds from that plant. Any later, and the seeds have matured; any earlier, and the plant will just flower three inches above the ground.

Edit: I'm not advocating for mowing ONLY in late fall. This is assuming you're still mowing a time or two during the summer.
