Bird flu is hitting a flock every few weeks and a couple large egg producing states no longer allow farmers to raise cage eggs in their state making farmers raise cage free instead.
These are a couple big drivers in current eggs prices. If you don’t like prices write your state officials because they’re the ones making these changes from caged to cage free happen.
I never said a thing about liking or not liking prices as they are not impacting me personally unless the price of a bag of grain goes up. I just walk to the coop for my eggs. And lovely brown eggs they are.
Again, this is typically the time of year new layers begin production and flocks should be replacing birds that were culled. I admit I had not considered the impact of the cage free operations and I'm not sure how long that's been a constraint on the market. |
