It’s been my observation that farmers don’t survive long once they retire. I’ve seen it many times where a guy farms up into his 70’s, has a farm sale and machinery auction to retire, and within 2-3 years they’re gone. Healthy as a bull moose in rut until the auctions and then slips away after that.
Old timer told me that a truck that sits around and does nothing rusts faster than the one you drive every day.
