Faunsdale, AL | I’m glad to hear that it worked with your system. I have a hard time seeing how the utility can have anything to say about what you do on your side of a properly installed transfer switch. ESPECIALLY when their power is down!
I guess it goes back to the rule of thumb I’ve always heard that says the utilities really don’t want to buy your “piddling” amount of power, so they have no interest in working with you except as mandated by law.
I suppose they might say, we agreed to buy the power and you agreed to sell it, so installing a transfer switch capable of isolating your system from our lines can prevent that happening and breach our contract. I think a lawyer could make the point that they cannot prevent you from making provisions to backup your home or business in the case that power is lost.
