Fertilizer and herbicide prices look rather sticky going into 2025. Same with seed. Question is in the corn belt if you could rent out owned ground for $300 an acre (210 aph corn and 63 aph soybeans) does it pencil better than farming it? Assume paid for land.
sure, every day like today adds ($0.08 x 210) another $16.80 in profit to the top. Margins are going to naturally going to get thinner with all the high speed planters and large combines sitting around in driveways looking for more to do after a week of use. A little rally now should boost some optimism for the seed and fertilizer salesmen trying to get farmers to write them a check, but it also won't do anything for bringing seed and fertilizer prices down. |
