Stone fruits (peaches/apricots) like sandy soils. Apples, cherry and pear do better in heavier soils. Full sun helps as well. If you have extended periods of sub zero temps in the Winter, even though they are dormant, some fruit trees buds will die off.

This was an odd year, here anyway. Everything is about two weeks early, the trees came out of dormancy early but thankfully we didn’t have a hard freeze afterwards. An hour south of us the peaches were fried.
