Kind of hard to tell from the distance of the pic but really does not look like SDS to me. Seems to be more likely to be early death due to lack of moisture with the rain fall you described. Tough to stomach for sure with the potential that was there. We were just the opposite here with only 1 inch in 6 weeks from June 1st to July 14th or so. Some beans died, especially where there was any grass competition.
