Scottville, 49454 Northwest Michigan

I don't have an answer for your question/questions.   But if I was in your situation, I would run some test strips.   Run a trial to determine what actually works and what actually does not work.

So often we want results NOW.   We want to know what works NOW.   Certainly that would be nice.   Nothing wrong with wanting that either.  But doing the work to find out what works and what doesn't work is probably just as important.   Maybe more important.   Because then we can use the lessons and experiences learned to guide us in all of our future crops to be produced.

I commend you for doing the research with your question.... putting in the time.   But I suggest, putting in an equal amount of time running some trials will be of greater value for you in the long run.   The more multiples of strips you run.... the more reliable will be your results too.
