Ne Nebraska | I’ll say this, cow calf up till I’d say 100-120 pair seems more like a hobby and an evening/weekend type of deal, start getting 200+ and it becomes a job, you better enjoy doing it. If your one who likes to leave for a weekend or vacation often cow/calf pry be a better fit as they can fend for themselves for periods of time. Feedlot you have to be there every day no matter what, and hopefully you have someone reliable and close to fill in when needed. If there is grass readily available for rent for cow/calf and have a good winter grazing available I’d lean that way. Also a low
Overhead cow/calf operation maybe be much easier to set up for capital wise vs building a feedlot from scratch, assuming current setup would need expanded. | |
