Subject: RE: Pasture mowing?

CNY
I usually clip mine twice a year

Once in early June. The spring growth always gets ahead of us, unless we are massively overstocked. Usually graze each lot twice then clip. Grass has a head on it then.
I clip with a bush hog, not tight to the ground about 5-6” up.
Then usually again first couple weeks of August. My pasture has been pasture since Jesus was a teenager. Timothy, broome, some meadow fescue. Lots of clover. I have thought about skipping some lots and baling them but I like putting the residue back on the ground
This is what we have done forever. This pasture had dairy cows on it when I was growing up now my steers.
