Nw Iowa | We built 14 years ago and we just put in wider halls, wider area around the kitchen island and made closets on main floor and basement floor match so we could put in a elevator someday and only loose closet space. Floor under basement closet is if I remember a ft deeper to allow for a elevator to be put in. We also made sure basement trusses did not interfere with this space. Didn’t hardly cost any extra other than the 1’ wider hallways. We have a walkout basement, wouldn’t trade the basement, gives us extra living space, very easy to deal with furnace and Water etc and up here in north land, easier to heat. | |
