I fully understand that, but than why go thru the whole charade? This is the democratic process we have used for selecting a presidential candidate for as long as I remember so that the normal person has a voice in who their party selects. It hasn’t always been perfect but has worked pretty well. I looked up the word Democratic and definition “was supreme power exercised by the people and exercising by them directly or indirectly.” I would say that would define a primary? 1891 tries to tie this to constitutional law which is another way of saying we really don’t have to abid by the primary which is another way of covering up fact that their candidate has really never been picked by their parties voters which gets back to the democracy thing which ironically is supposed to be what their party name stands for.
