If the cd loan is 7% he is better off with the 6%.
Taking loan forgiveness out of the equation leaves 3 options
Borrowing against cd at 7%.
The student loan at 6%.
Borrowing from Yourself at 5%.
The first is offset by the 5% Income so net cost 2%
The second is also offset by the 5% Income. Net cost 1%
The 3rd has a net cost of 0.
