Yes, you are correct. If he is going to have to borrow regardless, then secure the loan with the CD at 2% over. He is essentially borrowing against his own money. Much better to pay 2% vs. 6%. As someone else mentioned, this doesn’t consider outside variables such as forgiveness, etc.
