Driftless SW Wisconsin

WCWI - 7/24/2024 22:45 I would not be too excited about using someone else's bull if you are in an area with any chance of Trich, Use one bull, get him tested and watch your cattle a little, if he is breeding you should be Ok and also watch after 3 weeks and see if cows are in heat or messing around, see one in heat write it down starting 3 weeks before breeding starts and long enough into breeding that you are confident in your bull, and watch for them again at 18-21 days. Put them on a good mineral & vaccination program also.

Good advice. Mineral is an important part of successful breeding and calving. One dead or missing calf saved or open cow averted and you have a years worth of mineral-lyx paid for on a small herd. Tough to prove when things go well but it works.
