Now now, someone will be along shortly to tell you how wonderful that transmission is. It won't be me though!
I just got through using our Deutz 9190 with an Oliver transmission to bale hay for a couple days. Last night I was able to switch the baler back to a tractor with a decent transmission. Those Oliver transmissions work fine for field work, but they suck for mowing or baling. Stupid freewheeling in under, wonky gear pattern, and having to throttle down so it doesn't grind between forward and reverse when you are at a 100% dead stop.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that trany for mowing or baling, and it is vastly superior to a IH torque, long as you don't run them low on oil they are very trouble free, at least on the sizes I have been around, no experience on the bigger ones. Freewheeling in low is not a problem if you have an operator in the seat rather then a driver. Now if you want to badmouth the bigger ones on a loader I will not argue that point |
