Hello I'm gonna be cutting some wheat this week. We plan to make some small squares and some round bales with the straw. The straw is gonna be a little wet yet so we would like to spread it out and let it dry a couple days. Someone suggested just running it through the straw chopper with the knives pulled out. Is this a good idea? Or will it be too hard on the straw?

Pretty sure that how my son did it. CIH 8250 combine with 40' draper. Slowed the spreaders down so it spread the straw ~ 25-30'. I was surprised the length of the straw & the quality. I had done so e years ago with a 1660, pulled the chopper blades up. Straw was short & looked like it had been a crimpe4
