Subject: RE: Putting hay up on shares?

Cherokee county, IA
My boss does hay on shares with me. His hay field are mostly 10 to 20 acre fields that are right up against the time, he always figures is better than planting corn or beans right next to the trees and getting nothing for a yield. Our agreement is 30% first cutting 40% second and third is negotiable but usually around 45%.I sometimes feel like I'm getting a lot better deal but I've rolled up around 250 bales so far this year and he hasn't even stepped foot onto the hay field yet, I've just done all the work and checking for when to cut and when to bale and pick up, I don't feel too bad. He likes turning the hay checks into cash and having 1 less thing to worry about, that's our experience with hay on shares
