We pulled a 1065 and later 1285 with 150hp for hay and corn silage. It would shear bolts when starting and when you hit a slug hard enough. We later put a 8400 that dynos 260 on it and the shear bolt problem went away. Run as much power on them as possible to keep it in the powerband.
.I think we ran the 3 row head with the 8050 allis, but that was close to 25 years ago so I could be wrong. Our corn silage yields weren't great back then, still could use some improvement.

Also after they quit making them,we bought low use used ones for a while, then switched to NH/CIH. The corn head on the red ones were way better.

The real innovation on that forage harvester was the spinner - - - the rest of it was light built and didn't stand up well if you worked it hard.
Pity none of the other companies ever tried a spinner!
