Great point. For those that didn't read the article, attached to this post is one way of looking at the data from the article, for three different soil temps, at 3 and 6 weeks after planting:

Mikenesd, what soil temps do you think your no-till fields would experience from planting to 6 weeks after planting? And what affect has heavy residue had on your soil temps during that time? As I recall you were monitoring soil temps pretty closely for a while.

; Yes i did monitor soil temperatures some years ago, but never thought to test temps under corn residue. If i remember right of all the tests the ones under soybean stubble were the coolest.

 I will look back in my records and report back if i find something useful.
