| Can't speak for a 6 bar spike behind a finisher but I had a four bar spike behind a 980 Deere field cultivator. About the only thing I liked about it was it did a nice job levelling and left a smooth seedbed. Otherwise I found it hard to adjust, didn't handle trash well, did nothing for lumps and I spent as much time untangling the stupid chains as I did cultivating. I ended up selling that cultivator to buy another 980 with a three bar coil tine and a hitch and pull a sunflower crumbler behind. Much happier with what I have now. I'd be willing to try a three bar spike and rolling basket from a different mfg.
At the end of the day the harrowgator still does the nicest job and ended up doing all my corn acres with it this year. Put together a 34' one and can cover a lot of ground quick. | |
