Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa | John Burns - 7/21/2024 00:54 Right now Bunaken Island Sulawesi Indonesia. Here for a week. Then to Banka Island for a week. Then to Lembeh Island for 2 weeks. Scuba diving. From the time we left house to landing at the resort almost 48 hours continuous travel. 41 hours air time. 4 airports. Two cars and a boat. Whew! Getting too old for this! Glad we made it though. Diving is great though. Saw 20-30 big turtles today. Quit counting early on. Quite a bit of macro stuff. Trip we had planned and booked in 2020 and covid came along and cancelled it. Decided if we were ever going to do it, we ain't getting no younger.
That's an incredible trip, John. Have to agree.....once ya get to a certain point, it's kinda obvious that if you're gonna do something wild and crazy and a world-class event, better to do it earlier than later. I'm not put together to spend that much time actively traveling....just doesn't work with my psyche, but that's me. You guys do some marvelous fun things together and will have all those memories forever (hopefully!) We'd planned a 50th anniversary trip for 2020 and it got scuttled of course, so took it in 2022 finally. It was just as much fun, and we were thankful that we were both still able to travel. |
