Leptin is a relatively newly discovered hormone that causes a stir of research among biologists hoping to find a factor that could address obesity. But this work boomeranged and showed the principle driver of obesity is what we knew all along, high insulin levels and insulin resistance. So what causes that? High carbohydrate concentrations in the diet with or without high fat consumption.
I seems to me that once again, a layer of deeply detailed knowledge refutes the 50-60 year general drumbeat of low fat diets as a healthy way to eat.
