The space race was another battle front in the Cold War and no expense was spared beating the Russians to the moon. Almost as soon as Neil put his foot down on the moon, congress started cutting back funds for NASA moon misssions. Apollo 17 was our last moon mission but there was suppose to be three more 18/19/20 which were canceled.
