Specifically no till beans in cornstalks. They always look sickly and short and never seem to want to take off.

In this pic there was black dirt from a canola test plot in the middle of my field last year. You can see right to the line where the corn stalks start.

The black dirt beans are bushier and taller than the cornstalk beans.

What is it that the corn stalks tie up?


Cold soil, nitrogen, stand is always poorer.

Vertical tillage in the spring helps a lot
