Subject: Feeding Ionophores/Rumensin to Calves

SW Iowa
In our cow-calf operation, we wean our spring calves in the fall and feed them out with free choice hay and bucket feed the calves daily for anywhere between 30-90 days. In the last several years I have heard and read about ionophores and the benefits of feeding them. In a year like this, I would like to try it out and see if we can see a return on it in our type of operation. My question is how do you guys utilize it in your operations and where/ how do you think it would fit into ours? (to note we don't feed with or have a feed wagon, we do have a good relationship with our vet, and we have a roughly 4 ton bulk bin we get feed delivered to and bucket out of)
