Subject: RE: Sodium in irrigation water

I have 3 wells with a lot of salt. My numbers are sodium 430, calcium 88, SAR is 10.2, and EC is 7.9. And that is one of the better of the three. Don’t know where you are or what you want to grow but you should be able to manage it okay. I’ve found gypsum to help and no till and lots of residue on top helps water infiltration. Alfalfa seems to be affected less than other crops I’ve tried. Channel has some salt tolerant soybean varieties but while they looked good the yield didn’t seem to be there. The big rains in May is a big plus. If I get rain I can grow a somewhat decent crop but if it’s all well water it doesn’t work very well. Good luck
