Back when few people lived past 75 or 80 the 70 threshold might have had more weight but if someone is otherwise healthy prostate cancer needs to be dealt with so it doesn't spread.Where I went for radiation they ran two machines every 15 minutes all day long for various cancers,,,I was one of the younger ones at 61 years old.

My grandfather had prostate cancer for 10 years,,he was diagnosed at 85 and they assumed he would die of something else,or might not make it thru an operation,he sat in a nursing home for ten years before it got him at 95
