Dad had a metal chip in his hand, doctors told him to leave. Fast forward 10 years he needed to get an mri on his back. Metal chip had to come out. He went to hand surgeon and they removed it. I would say get it out, you never know when your going to need an mri maybe in a hurry and it won't be an option.
