Subject: RE: Oat moisture

Dayton, IA
I’m using an 8250, macdon. I’m cutting high off the ground, started with book settings and in 10 acres didn’t see anything to change. I have tried cutting on the ground in the past but so much stuff going through I couldn’t ever get all the oats out. I don’t run the chopper and spread the straw out the back. Then come back later, mow, rake, bale. 750 rotor, 30 concave. 900 plus fan. If you need test weight don’t be afraid of running fan on the fast side and maybe blow some of the lighter ones out. I have Kuchar concaves so I don’t know much about what combo of case concaves would be best.
