We drilled a second well about 30 feet from the original well. We have 2 pumps running off the same pressure switch. Works good. Hard to tell if one pump quits other than putting your ear on the riser. We already had good sized plumbing in place. We are 1 1/4 for a short distance and go to 2" for long runs. If you have much 1" plumbing in the system, that can cause low volume problems. Older iron fittings can do it also. I have seen galvanized fitting holding pressure yet but be down to a pencil sized hole for water to go through.
