NWMO | Often times here, the big yield dragger is simply drainage. We have a farm that in 2021 averaged 55 bu/ac soybeans. Since then, the landowner has paid us to do a bunch of work drainage wise. The farm is pattern tiled, surface ditched with a wolverine grade ditcher, and has a pump installed for when the creek gets high and water can’t drain out.
Last year, that farm averaged 80 bu/ac soybeans. This year, that farm has received 1/3 of its yearly rainfall in just over a month ~11” of rain. I think we lost about 10 out of the 185 acres. Back on 2021, we would’ve lost probably 150 of the 185 acres. I love doing stuff like that | |
