Just FYI:
I have feed into an Ag Leader Integra , with NMEA string; from a AG15 globe (500 Ez-guide system) BUT it required a special cable so that Ag Leader didn't backfeed a 12 volt circuit into the 500 system, which will "burn-up" the 500 unit.
There was actually 2 short cables involved = got both from Ag Leader dealer (note: It turns out, I actaully owned one of the short cables, if I had only looked into my old Integra shipping box, before driving to Ag Leader Dealer)
Here's the story on this. The Ag Leader display cables supply 12V Power and Ground to power a GPS in their 9 pin connector beside signal ground, transmit and receive. This makes it easy to connect an Ag Leader GPS to an Ag Leader display since the power and ground plus the GPS connections are all available in the 9 pin connector.
However, when you wish to use a non-Ag Leader GPS with the Ag Leader display cable having 12V power and ground might not be needed and in some cases is undesirable since this can cause damage to the non-Ag Leader GPS.
The short cable that is mentioned above simply does not include the Power and ground pins so no damage can occur. Another option is to clip off male pins 1,4 6, 7, 8 & 9. In other words leave just 2, 3 & 5 as they are all that is needed for the GPS information.
This will prevent 12V from the Ag Leader cable getting back fed to the non-Ag Leader GPS which might be a problem. |
