Subject: RE: Ag leader steering on hagie sts 12 adjustment

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
This year, I have a new to me Hagie STS-12 about that age. I moved my Ag Leader Steady Steer (assisted steering wheel steering) to it yesterday. I am using an InCommand 1200 with an Ag Leader GPS 7500 unlocked and subscribed to Terra Star Pro C so my correction level would be much better than WAAS.

We went through the calibration routine which seemed to be successful. Since our fields are wet, we can not spray yet but after preforming the calibration, I tried it on a gravel road by setting an AB line which it seemed to follow nicely. I turned around and engaged on the same AB line. Judging from my wheel tracks, it appeared to match up on the return pass.

I used this Steady Steer unit on my combine last year and noticed the kickout didn't work quite a nicely as it does with my other steering systems. I just set it up so I use the remote button to engage and disengage the steering. In a panic emergency, if I grab the wheel to disengage, it will disengage but it takes a fair amount of effort to "break it loose". It steered the combine well in soybeans.

This Hagie STS-12 has All Wheel Steer. It is my understanding that the AWS is only used for turning around on the Headlands. We were hoping that Turn Path might be useful but I don't know how this all fits together. Our planting tractor uses Ag Leader's SteerCommand Z2 with that GPS. Both the regular AB steering and Turn Path worked very well with it. Of course, the situation with Steady Steer on the sprayer is different due to the steering method, steering geometry and ground speed.

I suspect your problem may be a combination of the system, the Sprayer, WAAS and ground conditions.
