Southeast Washington | I never saw much more than say 10 percent increase in wheat here. Never had an R75 though. At first our R76 with Sisu was no more than our R72's with the M11. Took about 3 years as they played with the torque curves to get the Sisu to outperform the Cummins. Then we had the R76 and the S77 and the larger rotor and changes you could tell there was more capacity but the engine was limited to what it could do as both combines ran the same engine and power was the limiting factor to get the capacity out of the S77 that it was capable of. Enter the S78 and wow power and torque of the 7 cylinder engine to get a lot more capacity out of the Super Series combines.
As stated the S77 and the larger rotor and other changes have always been easy to adjust for a better clean sample over the older small rotor combines.
Edit to add about emissions they have improved over the years. The S77 had a fixed DEF tank that was sort of in the way for servicing and the later models can swing out of the way.
Our first S77 had the vent run up over the tank and placed in about the dirtiest environment possible where all the engine compartment dust is blown right past the the end of the vent line. I think they had some sort of filter but it would still get past and into the tank. Solution was run a longer hose back down below the tank out of the dust air blast. Newer ones were run that way but no filter on the end so we would put an inline fuel filter on them so that dust couldn't work back up in the vent line.
Otherwise make sure it is clean around the fill tank before taking off the cap as it is still in the air blast from the engine fan and all the fine dust. Twelve years and they haven't improved that. Our solution is to take the left safety shield at the hinge so the dust is blown out higher and the engine compartment stays cleaner without the back pressure from having the shield closed. For our conditions it is a big safety factor reducing fire risk by removing the lower part of the shield.
