My Dad & uncle would take a 2-lb. coffee can with a handful of grounds, dump water out of the canteen or water bag, set it on the campfire until it 'turned over", grab it with a pair of pliers & pour it into the cups...I wasn't "old enough" to drink coffee but it always smelled good.
