If GM lost money on every Bolt EUV sold then why order 70,000 more to sell at the same price? And I've been in business long enough to know that there are many ways to calculate profit and loss. A good accountant, especially in a large manufacturing operation, can usually produce whatever result the folks who sign his paycheck want. There are many ways to allocate costs and depreciation, etc. As Ed says above, the basic Bolt has been in production for 7 years. This was long enough to get much of the tooling and engineering amortized. Sales were held down for a time by LG battery problems but they got that problem solved and the 2023 model sales took off. Try to buy one from a dealer these days. Dealers are charging above msrp for any Bolts they can get their hands on. A logical decision might have been to continue production for a few more years to see where it goes. At least continue making the Bolt EUV until GM gets their own battery production rolling.
