Our little local nasty convenience store sells gallon jugs of DEF. They don't come with a spout. We only use them in emergencies, but we have noticed the DEF from there is used up faster in a tractor. The blue DEF and other big brands last longer. I have not had a problem with any of it.

I have a hard time believing the this. The machine doesn't care what brand it is, as long as the quality sensor doesn't freak out with whatever you're using, it shouldn't matter.

I be more inclined to believe you think you're using more because you're adding it 1 gallon at a time, OR you are needing it sooner because you are doing work that is requiring more because of engine load. You did say you only use the convenience store stuff in emergencies.
