It's not the Def that's the issue. It's the proprietary overpriced junk that controls it.
I've had a dealer out 2 times in the last 5 years.
Both times it's been for emissions bs that I can't fix myself.
It's cronyism.


Steiger tractor had the pump go out. $3800 to replace it plus labor.. $3500 to make it go away forever.

If I were to figure up repairs over the last 10 years I would say 75% have been emissions related whether its DEF or EGR stuff. Some were cheap to fix and some cost a healthy bit. All caused downtime whether waiting on parts or the mechanic. All of them could have been avoided..


This blows my mind. 75% of your repairs are related to emissions? On our farm in the last 10 years, there has probably been 20+ vehicles (tractors, combines, Semis, pickups, etc…)that have used DEF. 13 of them currently on the farm. Haven’t had to drop a dime in any of them. We don’t tinker with anything, just add DEF and go.
