It's not the Def that's the issue. It's the proprietary overpriced junk that controls it.
I've had a dealer out 2 times in the last 5 years.
Both times it's been for emissions bs that I can't fix myself.
It's cronyism.
Steiger tractor had the pump go out. $3800 to replace it plus labor.. $3500 to make it go away forever.
If I were to figure up repairs over the last 10 years I would say 75% have been emissions related whether its DEF or EGR stuff. Some were cheap to fix and some cost a healthy bit. All caused downtime whether waiting on parts or the mechanic. All of them could have been avoided.. | 
Cheap DEF from stores. Any concerns?
