I can totally understand some upcharge on shipping things out.
Like you mentioned UPS might charge you $45 to ship something. By the time you package it up you have labor on that. In my case I'd have to run it to the local hardware store to ship out. I might be able to pull that off in 20 minutes if I really hurry.
