I do use labeled pre chemicals. I try to stay on the low end of rates. Check out Dixondale Farms website. I talked to them and they recommended Treflan. I know I used that one year and pretty sure I incorporated it just before planting. I have used Outlook several years sprayed over the top after the plants take ahold good and get to growing. I don't remember exactly what the label says but they need to have started growing good. Just a small patch this year so didn't use the pull type sprayer. I used a spray jug and directed the spray to the base of the plant. The spray wand on our spray jugs use regular ag type tips so that helps with doing a good job and calibration. Also for grasses I am pretty sure Select or some of the other post grass products are labeled just watch your rates and observe the PHI.
