You are 100% correct about ground contamination.

All our greenhouse production is 30" off the ground.

We stack CMU 3-high, to support rows of standard pallets.

Plants are all in rootmaker containers, or in plastic mortar tubs with drain valves.

After review of all the excellent responses here, and reading more about vegetation control, we intend to just continue using glyphos.

The weeds cannot harm the gravel, and they do not affect our production.
