NC SD
Just went through this a couple days ago. I was careful and torched it off. The plastic bushings under the nut will be shot when you do this and be some small flames maybe also. I heated the nut up really good and tried to screw it off but no luck. Last time I heated it it was glowing red and cut off like nothing. Just be careful not to get threads too bad. As far as towards the end of the cylinder where you said you ruined the threads, I did the same thing. Just run a thread die down them. You will probably have to touch up where you torched anyhow. Those two flat spots towards the end to hold it make it tough to get die to start. I ground the tip to an angle for a ways and got it to start and nothing too it after that. To take cylinder all the way out there are two bolts that come up from the bottom on the other end. Need to cap hydraulic hose when you take them off seemed like the oil ran out pretty good otherwise. Flat faced fittings.
