In our situation I have never seen the seed sink after planting but I can understand in some soils how this could happen. The subsoiling is also nice to break the hard dry compacted end rows from the excessive traffic from the previous year. Without the subsoiler we would have trouble with consistent stands. End rows hard and compacted or wet water logged area once dried out can tun into a brick. Then the other 70% of the field would be perfect for no till.
In farming it is hard to check all the boxes on one setup. Having some sort of tillage to incorporate the lime is important.
