Subject: Planting Corn in South Carolina (video)

Holly Hill, SC
Though I would share our take on planting. I see and hear about a lot of large pull type planters and plenty of fall tillage. In SC the residue from the previous year "burns" away on its own allowing planting without much trouble. Typically we like to start planting around March 5th and finish up around April 1st. This year has been very wet and cold causing us to be behind.
Most of this planter and tractor are around 14 years old covering 3000 acres a year. 6 years ago I did replace all the mechanical drives with Ag Leader electric Surdrive motors. Am I missing out on anything by not having the latest and greatest? My JD 2600 monitor is 14 years old and holds a straight line (RTK using dealer basse station). Why replace?
