northern MN		Dentists weren't always terribly expensive. My first wisdom tooth came out for a cost of $21.00. The dentist told me to irrigate it well, First thing I saw when I walked out the door was a local watering hole. You can fill in the rest. I had no problems with dry socket. Since that time I am guessing 50% of the population has dental ins, the last wisdom tooth cost $1200.00. To there benefit they did two at the same time but I think Its obvious the advent of ins has been very good for the industry.
